I have to admit, it's getting better

Day 2: Rosie's coming out of hiding. She's an aggressively friendly little thing. She just wants love. She wants to give love and she wants to get love. Love, love, love. Love is all you need.

She and Casey the Cat are coming to an understanding. The hissing has subsided, and the couple of swats Casey gave her today were actually returned. I think Casey was impressed. The two cats like to sit about five feet apart and watch each other. There's been some nose touching. I think some kitty friendship is a real possibility. We're trying to let Casey know that he's still our guy, and we haven't forgotten about him.

Jeff the Dog has been just about golden with her. He was in bed with us last night, and Rosie actually joined in. He wanted to say hi, and I had to hold him back a little, but he did not go utterly bananas like I assumed he would. He's not nervous or trolling or looking to make trouble. He's always a little smarter than I give him credit for.

You can tell we are a one-child family. Bringing a cat home is a Big Deal for us. It's about the Biggest kind of Deal we can handle, which is precisely why we are a one-child family.

We're having fun, though. Maybe someday we'll move out to the country and then I can report on all the other animals we'll be introducing to each other.

Nose touching after only a few hours? Incredible! Our newbie, little Callie, has yet to do this w/ Twinkie, and it's been a year this past weekend. Kudos!

Miss you guys...
